Classification. The DAP Standard.
One shared way of describing every holding, built around a single question: where does the money actually come from. Policy and research both use it, so a term means the same thing in both.
Where the money comes from, not what it is called
Two holdings can sit in the same legal wrapper and make money in completely different ways. Two that look unrelated can make it the same way. The Standard sorts holdings on that basis, because that is the level at which exposure, concentration and mandate questions are actually asked.
No single score
A holding is described in layers, not collapsed into one number. A single score would throw away the detail that policy and research need, so we do not produce one.
Why it comes first
Because policy and research use the same definitions, nothing further down the line has to reconcile two versions of the same holding. Every record names the Standard alongside the policy version it applied.
